Description
Adversity is a part of life for all too many. For some, adversity is more pronounced... it's presence more acute. Over time, it can cause a person to feel as if they are somehow different from the people surrounding them. It can warp and twist perceptions of self. Given enough time and severity, prolonged exposure to adversity can create a sense of alienation from those who may not be exposed to such things. One who suffers the effects of adversity for long periods of their life can find themselves asking "why me?" to whatever powers that be. This is dedicated to all who have found themselves in this situation at one time or another.

Jane has a good point--This is good that we all see different interpretations in this one. I can see her point of view as well. Beautiful work of art . FAVORITE!

He is in adversity, beseeching the powers that be, but what strength in those hands! And his uplifted head seems to symbolize connection with a greater intuitive power that he somehow knows is there even in his darkness. You are a philosopher as well as such a wonderful artist John. I marvel at the depths you share with each and every creation. L/F
John Alexander replied:
I am always thrilled to hear from you Jane. So happy that you stopped by to see this one. Not all of us care for a deeper meaning in artwork... which makes it all the more meaningful when people such as yourself take the time to offer insight into what the works means to them personally. THANK YOU for your wonderful support Jane.

Painful memories, despair, physical pain.....adversity is such a bitch. Sufferers must look within themselves for therein lies the power to overcome. It`s a struggle, it takes time and perseverance but, heed these words, it can be conquered. Always hang tough and never abandon hope. Master John, you totally rock brother. Wear your gold medal proudly. l.v.f. sing and dance all you brothers and sisters
John Alexander replied:
Ah, master Farrow! You know well what it means for adversity to profoundly shape perceptions, both internal and external. I was inspired to bring this into being based upon reflections of past experiences. What I am going through in the way of adversity right now completely pales in comparison to the dark paths once tread long ago. It made me think about how many of us end up with more on our plates than many fortunate others. As always, I deeply appreciate the support brother. You are the man.
