John, obviously your message is a profound and important one. This time though I'm drawn just to tell you how fabulously impressive your sculptured artwork is with its' 3D look and stark shadows. The faces peering out of the eyes are so astonishing that I'm really surprised they have not been mentioned so far. For me, they are what makes this image so far seeing and extraordinary and powerful. Amazing work! L/F

John Alexander replied:

Thank you so much Jane! As always, your thoughts are something that I truly look forward to. As for the eyes, they reflect that which brings their doom. I was a bit surprised that they had not been mentioned either since they bear such an important part of the image itself. Thank you for looking Jane, and even bigger thanks for sharing your thoughts with me once again. You rule.

A powerful, striking image, echoing the same sentiments I tried to bring across with my ' The sadness of Gaia' image. But all is not yet lost. The race between sustaining Earth and destructive greed is still going on. And there are some 'Green Shoots' growing. slowly but surely. So there is hope... :-)

John Alexander replied:

Hartmut! Great to hear from you my friend. 'The Sadness of Gaia' is a wonderful image. You are right, there are certainly some 'green shoots' growing. I think that many of those very shoots are from the same seeds of discontent that you, me, and many, many other likeminded people are sowing with every passing day. As long as there are people willing to recognize what is happening, there is indeed hope that change will one day be made for the better. As always, thank you for sharing your thoughts. I always enjoy your perspective.

This image reflects so perfectly the dire straits we are all in! I appreciate your well thought out description, John. The movie Elysium, 2013 was a prophetic warning of what is to come if we do not change course!. The movie takes place in 2154, the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth. We have been warned!!!

John Alexander replied:

I am so happy to hear that you like this image Susan. It turned out even better than I had hoped. I have not seen Elysium. Funny that you should mention it, I have been thinking about picking up a copy of late... very soon I think I will have it. It is always a treat to hear your thoughts, truly appreciate that you take the time to share them.

So profound, so prophetic and sadly, so truthful. As Earths human population explodes, pollution grows more dire. People in leadership positions continue their denial of global warming. Wars become more prevalent as barbarism becomes the rule of the day. More people have adopted the "I don`t care" ideology and turn their heads as the world implodes around them. If we don`t change our ways, and soon, all is doom and gloom.......another gold medal post from "Alexander The Great"

John Alexander replied:

It is so much easier to turn a blind eye. We all have our own difficult lives to deal with... the concept of something greater than the sum of our personal parts is difficult to feel invested in. We live in a country that uses everything at its disposal to keep the people from uniting. It is this very thing that fuels the bleak impressions of the future that some of us feel.

I love the stories your art tells......Brilliant......

John Alexander replied:

Thank you so much Iris, I truly appreciate all of your support and kindness.

Artist's Description

Elementals. Spirit guardians of the earth. Imagine if you will, a time in the distant future when mankind has, through their innate negligence to all that surrounds them, destroyed those very spirit guardians one after another. Through overpopulation, pollution, and warfare... the elementals fall and the world decays. Imagine the last of their kind watching the final approach of their inevitable doom.

As always, thank you for looking. Thank you for your thoughts and kind words. Thank you for your support.
