A sad commentary on how free thinkers are all too often viewed in this day and age. Believe what you see. Believe what you read. Believe what you hear. Do NOT question. Conform or be persecuted.
-John Alexander (aka SirJohn)
My name is John Alexander. I have been creating and sharing my works online for many years under the name 'SirJohn'. I find inspiration in the world around me, in human behavior... and the dark recesses of the mind. The world is filled with people painting landscapes and flowers... I am not one of them. -John Alexander (visit me on my home page: http://www.sirjohnsworld.com) Also, for those who may be interested in having my artwork on hand in the form of an absolutely gorgeous book, see the links below for more information! Michael Creese
Nice! This is how I feel anymore.
Douglas Fromm
Today’s favorite, even though it frightens me somewhat. I have been marching with “The Non Conformist “ my entire adult life, over half a century. Today is Election Day 2020, an opportunity for the “ free thinkers” that you mention to reverse America’s downward spiral towards authoritarianism. It has been said that “ it can’t happen here” in our democracy, but elected officials around the planet have historically abused their power to become dictators. I’m nearing the end of my time on this plane of existence, so a “Last March” doesn’t worry me so much personally. It would just hasten “The End”......I don’t have any children or grandchildren, but I worry about the people that belong to these generations. They may not have the freedom that we do. A powerful thought provoking visual image that says all that needs to be said, no words are necessary. But the power of the title does further emphasize the message !

I get a uneasy feeling for this one ! Well done once again. FAVORITE L/F
Anthony Mwangi
Lovely work. I hate to conform. It would be very sad not to question when God gave us the inherent need to do so! We were made to question and to understand. We are not robots! He who blocks us from questioning is our enemy! Lovely and powerful work John!

Brilliant work "Sir John", absolutely brilliant. Wonderfully creative, horribly sad, very real. L/F
Hartmut Jager
In our dreadful Trump age, when being different is being 'trumped out' - and narrow-minded tribalism is on the rise your (2014 !) prophetic image is more real today than ever before.
Reynold Jay
Came back for this one--Yes one of the most important!
Reynold Jay
Grand message and oh so true! Well done! I suspect most viewing this ( (artists) all march to the beat of their own drum! Lovely as can be. FAV!
John Alexander replied:
Reynold my friend, so happy that you took a peek at this one. Of all my works, I have always considered this to be one of the more important ones.
Gerald Strine

Callan Percy

Thank you very much for stopping by and visiting Callan... I really appreciate the kind words of support.
Susan Esbensen
A pebble in the pond John! Keep it up! I love the artistic agitation poking at the present day reality. It takes guts and strength of character too put yourself out there. Be different. Be yourself! Speak truth to power! "The first duty of every citizen is to question authority." B. Franklin This piece speaks to me John, thanks for sharing!
John Alexander replied:
Thank you Susan. Having seen your work, and read your words... I am not at all surprised that you can relate to this image. So happy that you like it (it has long been one of my favorites). As always, I truly appreciate the support my friend.
Randy Burns
Hope your world is good John.I always thought the non-conformist, such as myself, would have an easier time in today's world, but it seems to have gotten even harder-sad to say. This is a great representation!
John Alexander replied:
All is good in my world my friend. As for the state of affairs regarding the free thinking non-conformists in this iteration of America... well... I am afraid the cards are stacked against us. Couch potatoes rule the roost... and the television has trained them to look at free thinkers as 'radicals' and 'troublemakers'. Worse yet... we are 'un-American' and 'un-Patriotic' for not simply believing all that we are told. Such a shame to see such a small percentage of people capable of seeing beyond what is falsely presented. Thank you for the thoughts Randy. I always look forward to them my friend.
Dave Farrow
John, given the present political atmosphere in our great country it may be possible the non conformist has arisen from the status of follower to the status of rebels. It would appear that working class Americans have had their fill of the lies and deceptions perpetrated by the "establishment". Our leaders have viewed the working class as being naive and slow thinking and it`s about to bite them on the ass...you pick up the gold brother,,,,l.v.f.....awesome work
John Alexander replied:
The sad reality is that they have been correct in their assessment. Not just the working class, but most of the people beneath the top ten percent or so I would think. People believe what the television tells them to believe. The elite control what the television delivers. It is an insidious form of repression... and people of all walks have been hypnotized by it for decades on end. I hope that more and more people begin to wake themselves from the foul glammer that has been placed upon the social awareness. I hope that more and more people will be like us... people who see through the veil of deception and do NOT buy into the whole charade. Thanks for taking the time bro. I love to hear your thoughts.
Anita Zotkina
Yes, become like everyone or else... Very strong image
John Alexander replied:
It is a frightening reality... is it not?
CAROLE SPANDAU
Strong paintings like this that evoke intelligent conversation are a rare find. Syd Barrett would be proud. v
John Alexander replied:
You think Syd would have liked my stuff? That is a cool thought. Thank you Carole.
Jim Buchanan
Gaining control by doing it in full view of the crowd, subtle threat. Very good work.
John Alexander replied:
Thanks Jim.
Carolyn LeGrand
Powerful and brings to mind Pink Floyd and the song Comfortably Numb. Free thinkers be aware! L/F
John Alexander replied:
Ahhh... a Pink Floyd fan eh? Me too. Me too. So happy that you stopped by for a visit Carolyn. Please, come back as often as you want... heck, bring some friends with you lol. Seriously though, thank you for the comments and support. It means a lot.
